Autry is placed in charge of rounding up a tribe of Indians who are sitting on a barren plot of land. The construction of an aqueduct is planned so the tribe must be relocated, a move the Indians understandably are not too excited about. The first film produced by Gene Autry Productions, THE LAST ROUND-UP is reportedly Autry's personal favorite. A well-written, fast-paced entry with a number of likable tunes: "You Can't See the Sun When You're Crying," "160 Acres in the Valley," "An Apple for the Teacher," "Comin' Round the Mountain," and "The Last Round-up." Includes a fair amount of stock footage from the 1940 film ARIZONA. leave a comment
