Young is a Quaker schoolteacher who battles gambler Arnold, and, in the process, establishes women's voting rights in Wyoming in 1869. She also secures for women the right to sit on a jury, enabling the ladies to convict racketeer Arnold. The characters are symbolically made-to-order--Young is the frail, liberated, educated, Quaker (the model woman) and Arnold is a vulgar, gambling, boozing mobster (the typical man). leave a comment
