Hardwicke stars as a dedicated theatrical impresario, playwright, and actor who lives and breathes theater, priding himself on his talent at turning ordinary women into fine actresses. He falls for Glory, a Russian girl, and cons her into marrying him. She soon falls in love with his friend
Richardson, however, and runs out on the marriage. Supposedly based on the career of French playwright Sacha Guitry, who, by the time this film was made, had written well over 100 plays and was on his way to a fulfilling film career.
