Reminiscent of Jules Verne fantasies, this Disney adventure sends a team of Arctic explorers into an uncharted area at the turn of the century. Sinden, a wealthy Englishman, organizes the team in an attempt to locate his missing son. With a professor of Nordic history Hartman along to provide expert counsel, the group ventures into a mysterious valley that borders on a massive volcano. There they soon encounter a Viking settlement, making their search even more dangerous. Stunningly photographed scenery and convincing visual effects make this film one of Disney's more believable efforts. The film features Oscar-nominated Art Direction. leave a comment
