Craig is an Irish-immigrant teamster in 1920s Australia who doesn't take kindly to progress. He reacts stubbornly to the advent of the internal-combustion engine because the invention will end the need for his team of 20 Clydesdale horses. What develops is a powerful struggle between
members of his family and his own self-esteem. Although sentimental in parts, the film effectively portrays human emotions.
