This gripping psychological police drama takes place almost entirely on the single set of an interrogation room. Being questioned is a suspected child murderer, engaged in a battle of logic for an hour and a half with his interrogator. The drama builds to the point where the suspect accepts
the guilt placed upon him, mainly because his life is so uncertain. Lino Ventura and Michel Serrault, who are given the difficult task of carrying a film that contains almost no camera movement and is shot in near-real time, give brilliant performances. Fascinating.
