Bergerac is a hypnotist whose female subjects mutilate themselves after being hypnotized. One washes her face with acid, another takes a scalding shower, and a third ignites her hair with a lit burner. Behind the mutilations is Bergerac's assistant and wife, Hayes (the giant in THE ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN), who, disfigured herself, takes out her anger on the innocent women. Patridge is a detective who uses his girl friend to find the perpetrator of the crimes. A gimmick to attract box office for the film had Bergerac hypnotizing the theater audience. During this special segment he would have the audience stamp its feet, lift balloons which were handed out at the door, and clasp their hands. A cult horror classic. leave a comment
