After country doctor Stuart saves the life of press lord Gawthorne's young daughter, the important man is grateful. Later the doctor passes away, and his son (Stuart in a dual role) begins his own training for a medical career. He meets Barrie, who just happens to be the girl his father
saved years earlier. The two fall in love, to Gawthorne's displeasure. He decides to thwart the romance by printing a damaging article about Stuart but stops when he learns who Stuart's father was.
