Set in London, this haunted house effort begins with a truly a gruesome scene in which young mother Julia (Mia Farrow) desperately tries to save her choking daughter by performing a tracheotomy with a kitchen knife. It's to no avail, however, and her daughter dies. After getting over a nervous breakdown, Julia leaves her husband (Keir Dullea) and moves into an old, creaky Victorian house where spooky things happen. Her husband is found in the basement with his throat slit. Her boyfriend (Tom Conti) is electrocuted in the bathtub.
