The Gunfight At Dodge City: Review

McCrea is Bat Masterson, the famed sheriff of Dodge City, as unlucky with the law as he is with love. Adams is his initial love interest but when she spurns him he contents himself with Gates. McCrea's old outlaw gang shows up determined to bring their comrade back to the fold. They fail, as do the crooked local politicians who take on their sheriff. There are some interesting moments in the film, without many of the cliches usually found in this fare. This film was to be McCrea's last until Sam Peckinpah talked him into one more hurrah for RIDE THE HIGH COUNTRY in 1962. leave a comment
