Skelton's last film for MGM came up a dud. The comedian plays a young diamond cutter who was abandoned on a park bench as a baby and subsequently taken to an orphanage. While out celebrating the anniversary of his bundle being found on the bench, Skelton drinks too much and ends up in the slammer. Next to him is Whitmore, a dishonest lawyer, who upon hearing the diamond cutter's sad tale, "discovers" a phony family for him. His "uncles" happen to be two hoods, Kasznar and Bellaver, who use Skelton's knowledge of jewels to help them steal a diamond worth two million. The plot goes haywire when his bogus "mother" and "sister" soften and spill the beans. In the end, Skelton is cleared, and he marries his "sister." leave a comment
