The third film version of the comedy-mystery stage play by Ralph Spence is used as a vehicle for the Ritz Brothers. The boys play three bumbling detectives hired by wealthy Atwill to capture a killer known only as "The Gorilla" (he dresses like one), who has threatened Atwill's life. The
three goofs stake out the mansion, which is filled with trapdoors and secret passages, and await the arrival of the killer. Unfortunately, a real gorilla escapes from the local circus and shows up at the mansion, adding to the confusion and comedy. The Ritz Brothers do their usual mugging and
