Fraser, to keep up with the Joneses (actually the Watsons--Reynolds and Morris) buys his wife, Moore, a fur coat but soon realizes he can't keep up the payments. He digs himself deeper and deeper in the credit hole until he is finally forced to sell the jacket. Although the evils of credit
spending and the desperateness of debt are powerful subjects, THE GOOD BEGINNING fails to live up to its subject's potential.
