A good-versus-evil story with Hudson the noble one. He has to rescue Laurie from the clutches of Macready, who is the meanest vizier around. Though it's only a one-hero job, Hudson employs use of "the magic sword of Damascus." It looks good both in front and behind the lens but that's no
surprise. By 1953 Universal was turning out similar mystical Eastern fare on a regular basis, with each component perfected by the time THE GOLDEN BLADE was filmed.
