An equally sappy remake of SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY (1946)--as if one version of this story wasn't enough. Bacall, the seriously ill wife of Stack, fears her husband's impending loneliness. She adopts a young girl and gives this "gift of love" to him just before she dies. He soon finds the tot to be more of a nuisance than a blessing and returns her to the orphanage. His sixth sense one day takes hold of him and he rushes to an oceanside cliff. At the last moment he spots the child, comes to her rescue, and the disgustingly sweet pair live happily ever after. Bacall doesn't know how lucky she was to have died. leave a comment
