This lighthearted romantic comedy set during the last decade of the 19th century centers on the affairs of the heart of Kent as her career advances from small bits in London stage productions to starring roles in the best houses. Along the way she dumps balloonist Crawford, her first
admirer and love, for more prominent suitors, eventually marrying a lord. When she becomes nostalgic for the simpler times of her life, Kent goes on a romp with Crawford, an affair that makes her realize that she is content with the life she has chosen for herself. Horror film star Christopher Lee
and James Bond hero Roger Moore are seen in small roles early in their careers.
