The Food Of The Gods: Review

An ambrosialike substance known as FOTG (Food of the Gods) is discovered on a remote island inhabited by giant chickens, wasps, rats, and worms. Preyed upon are island dwellers Lupino and husband McLiam, as well as Gortner (a football player) and his friend Cypher. It's up to Gortner to save the day and do battle with these oversized foes. Also thrown into the plot is Meeker, a greedy businessman who hopes to market the strange food. Performances are weak all around, and Gordon hits his nadir in his cinematic vision of irregularly sized creatures. Gordon's other films from the late 1950s (THE AMAZING COLOSSAL MAN and ATTACK OF THE PUPPET PEOPLE), although concerned with size, were not much better. Gortner is simply terrible. Actually this is a remake of a film Gordon made some years back (VILLAGE OF THE GIANTS). Save yourself the trouble; don't even bother looking in the other volume for VILLAGE. It doesn't rate any higher than this pic. leave a comment
