The Final Test

Cricket, incomprehensible for most Americans but almost a religion for some Englishmen, is at the center of this entertaining, wry British comedy. Sam Palmer (Jack Warner), a legendary cricketer, prepares to play the last innings of his career for the English team as it takes on the Australians. His son Reggie (Ray Jackson), an aspiring poet, wants to see the old man's final stand at the wicket but receives a conflicting invitation to the home of renowned poet Alexander Whitehead (Robert Morley), an offer he can't refuse.
