In this grim drama about a disturbed family, Damianos is a wealthy, middle-aged farmer who ignores his second wife for his gambling and whoring. No better is his son, Vlachos, a sexually perverted boy whose deviate attentions become focused on the family's deaf-mute maid, Fotiou. His stepsister, Nathanael, returns home from school hoping to marry a young engineer, Focas, but his family is despised by Damianos.
