This vile horror flick, a congealed mess of excruciatingly graphic gore effects and comically ludicrous monster-movie scripting, is a lightweight contender for the title of worst video release of its year. One of those international co-productions that could foster a new wave of
isolationism, THE EVIL WITHIN would be totally repellent but for its unintentionally campy script, which plays like some crude obstetrics joke that lost its punchline in the translation from French to English.
Joining the circus is not the lark it's cracked up to be for pregnant, pathetic Yanka (Emmanuelle Escourrou), who's abused by her jealous employer/main squeeze (Christian Singer)....
