Made in English with Wertmuller's usual Italian crew, this film is saved from total banality by the acting of Bergen and Giannini. American photographer Bergen and an Italian journalist Giannini meet at a festival when Bergen, an ardent feminist, attempts to break up an Italian couple's fight. When Bergen's Good Samaritanism threatens to get her into trouble, Giannini helps her escape and then tries to seduce her. He is rebuffed but merely shrugs off the insanity of American women (i.e., they can resist him). Bergen and Giannini meet again in San Francisco, fall in love, marry, and spend the remainder of the picture arguing. He is a Communist with expensive tastes,...
