Mifune, Japan's War Minister during WW II, tries to stop Emperor Hirohito from broadcasting the declaration of surrender to the Japanese people. Mifune gathers together other officers who want to continue the war. They kill the commander of the Imperial Guards and take over the palace to
prevent the broadcast. Ishiyama's soldiers stop the coup and Mifune commits suicide. Based on real incidents in 1945.
