Vaguely impressive but amazingly pretentious, this Danish film shot with English dialog features Elphick (QUADROPHENIA, GORKY PARK) as a retired policeman living in Cairo who undergoes hypnosis to help him recall the details of the "Lotto murders" of little girls. He travels through a
ravaged Europe (exactly what happened is never made clear, but it looks like the aftermath of a nuclear war). Following the advice of criminologist Knight, Elphick begins thinking like the killer and eventually becomes the killer himself. Filmed with great visual style, the film looks terrific but
makes almost no sense save for its "insider" references to such
films noir as Jea...
