A plodding drama starring Glinski as a happily married man and a good father whose life is ruined when it is revealed that he collaborated with the Nazis during WW II. Though he claims he did it only to save the life of another man, the man he saved has died and cannot corroborate his story. Because no one believes him and his wife and child no longer respect him, he attempts suicide but fails even in that. Director Rozewicz is internationally known for his serious films, many of which he writes himself in collaboration with his brother, Tadeusz, a poet and playwright and a member of the Polish underground during the war. The film's photographer, Wojcik, is the gifted cameraman who shot, among other films, ASHES AND DIAMONDS. leave a comment
