What happens when writer Young, who hates marriage and dominating males, and a medical college instructor, Milland, who yearns to become a professor, meet in the bedroom? THE DOCTOR TAKES A WIFE dishes up a fast-talking, gibe-poking comedy that is still good for laughs. Young and Milland get involved in publicity linking them to marriage. Young takes advantage of the contretemps to dash off a hot novel, and Milland gets his professorship. They must pretend to go through with it, and actually take an apartment, and that's where the bickering and name-calling begins. A wildly contrived ending has them deciding to really get married and set everything straight. leave a comment
