This syrupy love story has an English younger son, Holmes, going to the Canadian northwoods to make his fortune. He is surrounded by a polite group of lumberjacks who act like jolly good Britishers and spend most of their time in a frontier dance hall. Holmes meets a dancer, Clarke, and falls in love. They go back to England when the present earl and his nearest relative are killed in an accident. Holmes becomes the new earl, and the couple live happily ever after. Mrs. Patrick Campbell was the darling of the British stage in the early 1900s and the original Liza Doolittle in Pygmalion, written for her by her close friend George Bernard Shaw. leave a comment
