The Crimson Canary

Accusations go back and forth between two members of a jazz band on the brink of success when their female vocalist is found dead. On the night before they are to leave a small town for San Francisco, their plans are tragically affected. Equal attention is paid to both suspects and their motives: Morton, suffering from a blackout, is found drunk the morning after in the dead lady's room, while trumpet blower Beery, Jr., is spotted leaving her place with a dented horn in hand. The beat picks up near the coda when it is discovered that the night spot owner is the guilty one. He killed the singer because he didn't want her to leave town with the band. Cool tunes color...
