Eggerth is a young singer in 19th-century Vienna who learns that her father is the king. Douglas Sirk, who directed under his real name, has described the film as "a piece of Viennese pastry." Extremely well done; one of the best of the prewar German musicals. Remade as DAS KONZERT in
