The Country Doctor

This fictionalized re-telling of the birth of the Dionne quintuplets and the backwoods doctor who delivered them sparked worldwide interest at the box office. Hersholt plays Dr. Dafoe (here called Dr. Luke), who battles against small-town narrow-mindedness to get a hospital built. Finally it is erected, but the backers pick someone else to head it. Then Qualen rushes in to fetch Hersholt to help his wife give birth, and the quintuplets make their appearance, stealing the last quarter of the film.
