This fictionalized re-telling of the birth of the Dionne quintuplets and the backwoods doctor who delivered them sparked worldwide interest at the box office. Hersholt plays Dr. Dafoe (here called Dr. Luke), who battles against small-town narrow-mindedness to get a hospital built.
