Aherne is an impoverished composer who lives in the Tyrol with his musician mentor and the mentor's daughters, one of whom falls in love with him. Aherne is subsequently distracted by a visiting relative, socially prominent and sophisticated, and marries her, hoping to improve his station and achieve success. Before long he realizes it is his mentor's carefree daughter he loves. Soft, delicate, meandering picture, beautifully directed. leave a comment
