A short, taut, and uninventive low-budget picture, THE CLAY PIGEON concerns a sailor, Jim Fletcher (Bill Williams), who regains consciousness in a Navy hospital after having been comatose for months. Upon coming to, he is informed that he is about to be court-martialed on charges of treason and for having caused the death of a friend in a Japanese prison camp. Fletcher turns to his friend, Ted (Richard Quine), for help, but Ted is conspiring with the Japanese guard (Richard Loo) who actually killed Fletcher's pal. This was the first RKO film produced with Howard Hughes at the studio helm. leave a comment
