Godbout is a French-Canadian journalist in Montreal who is alienated from Canadian society but unable to do anything about it. His girl friend, a Jewish drama student, is more interested in her art and sensual pleasures than in changing the world, so Godbout travels to a remote cabin and
thinks about it all. This pretentious drama is absolutely stagnant.
