The great Toshiro Mifune is wasted once again (as is James Earl Jones) in THE BUSHIDO BLADE, with Richard Boone attempting to open Japan to Western trade. Cartoonlike characters, much yelling, kung-fu and derring-do, a hammy performance by Boone, and a preposterous ending make it all less
than credible, and the smattering of violence, nudity, and humor can't save it from dullness. Laura Gemser later became the regular star of the cut-rate EMANUELLE soft-porn series; Sonny Chiba is beloved of some chopsocky fans.
