An extremely loose reworking of THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN (1935), THE BRIDE is actually two movies rolled into one. It's a poignant tale of friendship between the Frankenstein monster, Clancy Brown, and an adventurous dwarf, David Rappaport, a la OF MICE AND MEN. And it's an utterly
worthless morality play about a mad scientist, Sting, obsessed with fashioning his new creation, Jennifer Beals, into his image of the perfect independent woman. THE BRIDE must be commended for its attempt to tell two parallel stories, but unfortunately the halves do not balance, resulting in a
picture in which the lead characters (Sting and Beals) become secondary to the supporting one...
