Overloaded New England soap-opera supposedly about a mercy killing, but the film becomes too embroiled in the sex lives of its characters to do the serious euthanasia subject justice. Burton plays the doctor who returns to his hometown to care for friend Drake who is dying of Hodgkin's Disease. While treating his friend, Burton finds time to have an affair with the ill man's wife, Rush, who becomes pregnant. Not being able to watch his pal's suffering, Burton pulls the plug on his patient, killing him. The town is in an uproar over the incident and accuses the doctor of murder.
