The Boogey Man

A fairly clever attempt to merge the slasher-movie characteristics of HALLOWEEN with the supernatural elements of THE EXORCIST and THE OMEN, THE BOOGEY MAN was directed by Ulli Lommel, a former member of German director Rainer Werner Fassbinder's stable of actors and filmmakers (he appears in Fassbinder's THE AMERICAN SOLDIER and CHINESE ROULETTE). Loaded with repressed sexuality and dark family problems, the film opens as a young boy murders his mother's evil lover while his sister, Lacy, watches.
