Stanley Livingston of "My Three Sons" fame shows up as a little boy in this story about Provine's ("The Roaring Twenties") life of crime. When husband Bakalyan gets a 175-year prison term, the cigar-chomping, voluptuous blonde waitress becomes rougher and more brutal than her male counterparts. She learns to handle a machine gun and kill with ease, adding murder to her long list of crimes. Good performances by cast and frenetic music emphasize the nerve-wracking lives of brainless fugitives. Camerawork enhances the moods established by Ron Ament's intentionally sleazy period sets. No more based on the real facts than BONNIE AND CLYDE, this portrait, however, comes closer to the truth through the ruthless personalities shown. leave a comment
