Adaptation of a stage play written by noted British barrister Sir Patrick Hastings which concerns the efforts of a lord's secretary to have the lord convicted for diverting public funds for his own use. The lord denies the charges and sues the secretary for libel. Many forged notes,
dishonest allegations, and stolen documents later, the lord is cleared of the charges. Soon after, the truth comes out and the lord commits suicide rather than face another scandal. Good performances help keep this rather stagy and stiff adaptation moving.
