The Black Cat

Inferior horror/comedy outing stars Rathbone, Ladd, Sondergaard, and Cooper as vicious relatives who gather to wait for their wealthy aunt to die so they can collect the inheritence. The action takes place in a large, dark mansion, and Lugosi, as the caretaker, spends the movie looking around corners and peering through windows. One of the relatives can't wait and murders the dying woman, whereupon they all learn that the money won't be released until the deceased's dozens of cats have died. The rest of the film sees the relatives trying to eliminate one another and the cats.
