This surprisingly short (for 1963) film features Bennett as a lonely Jewish barber whose social life consists of playing chess on Friday night with his dim-witted friend, Shaw. One day the barber decides to propose to a widow with two children, but she scares him off, and he goes back to
playing chess on Friday nights. Very good cast, but pathetic subject matter makes this tedious.
