Some of the kids return for this pale sequel to THE BAD NEWS BEARS (see above), but the adults have moved on to greener ball fields and the picture suffers from their absence. Director Pressman is no Michael Ritchie, and Brickman's script is weak, sending the Bears to Houston where Haley
recruits his dad, Devane, to coach the kids in an Astrodome playoff game. Whereas a lot of the language was off-color but cute in the original, this time it's just plain smarmy. The original THE BAD NEWS BEARS was a home run, but the sequels are little more than weak trips back to the mound.
