After the murder of his girl friend by international terrorists, CIA computer technician John Savage blackmails his bosses into training him as a professional killer and sending him to Czechoslovakia to ferret out the killers. He makes it past the Iron Curtain but under the watchful eye of
CIA men Arthur Hill and Ed Lauter and Czech intelligence head Christopher Plummer. With his only ally being femme agent Marthe Keller, Savage cuts his way through numerous espionage twists to achieve his singular goal. A good cast and a great premise, based on the Robert Littell novel, is ruined
by implausibility and confusion.
