Fontaine is slick and funny as she plays four separate personalities in one girl, all of them remembered in flashback by different beaus. Abel proposes to her and is accepted. He then gives a party to celebrate and meets three men who have known and loved his wife-to-be: George Brent, a
movie producer who married and divorced Fontaine; novelist Dennis O'Keefe, who thought of her as an intellectual; and lumber tycoon DeFore, who met her after her divorce from Brent and endured endless nightclubbing with her, believing her to be a wonderful companion but a disgraceful liar. The
