The Affair Blum

A murder is committed by Erhardt, but Becker, a Jewish businessman remotely connected to the victim, is identified as the murderer by anti-Semitic police officials. They spin a web of circumstantial evidence around Becker, aided by the real killer, who provides alibis and explanations according to police instructions to protect himself and convict Becker. Blenert and Bildt give knockout performances as the biased detectives, and Erhardt is both stupid and crafty as the killer. Becker is further hampered from obtaining justice by a pre-Hitler bureaucracy that blamed all Jews for Germany's post-WW I woes. Becker is saved at the last moment by one conscientious police...
