An overlong spectacle that tells how a band of only 300 Spartans fended off an army of thousands in the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC. The filmmakers were more concerned with the immenseness of battle than with historic credibility or story, though amid all the excess Richardson's performance (given the feebleness of the script) shines through. Not much better than the Italian muscleman imports. leave a comment
