French opera star Lily Pons, RKO's answer to Columbia's Grace Moore, is appropriately cast as a French opera star in this joyful musical farce. Because a jealous suitor has failed to get her a passport, Pons must hide from immigration officials while she is in the US. She hooks up with
McLean's Wildcats, a swing band led by Raymond, who is unaware of her success as a coloratura soprano opera singer. It's not long before Pons and Raymond fall in love, plan marriage, and return to New York, where Pons has a date at the Met.
