That Certain Age

Durbin jilts local boy friend Cooper after she develops a strong crush on her parents' houseguest, Douglas, who is a worldly news correspondent working on articles for her father's newspaper. While Douglas does not take advantage of Durbin's attentions, he is amused by her company and uses the situation to avoid boring social gatherings. Eventually Durbin realizes the silliness of her infatuation and returns to Cooper. The film earned Academy Award nominations for Best Sound and Best Song ("My Own," Jimmy McHugh, Harold Adamson).
