Thanks For The Memory

1938, Movie, NR, 77 mins

Based on the popularity of the Hope and Ross "Thanks For The Memory"sequence in THE BIG BROADCAST OF 1938, Paramount threw together this quick "sequel" to capitalize on the situation. The film, however, is a bit stale. Hope is a frustrated author who stays home and takes care of the house while trying to write his novel. Ross plays the wife who leaves the house in the morning and goes to work. This odd (for 1938) arrangement soon leads to a break-up, but eventually the couple is reunited. Hope and Ross sing "Two Sleepy People" (Ralph Rainger, Leo Robin) in addition to "Thanks for the Memory" (Hoagy Carmichael, Frank Loesser). leave a comment
