A moderately funny French comedy starring Bourvil as a member of an aristocratic French family that refuses to work despite the fact that they are tearing up the estate's floorboards for firewood to keep themselves warm. Seeking solace in the Catholic church, Bourvil sits in a pew awaiting divine guidance. When he hears coins dropping into the collection plate, he assumes God means for him to take the money. Bourvil boosts the collection and then ventures from church to church, amassing a small fortune in religious donations.
