Shifting the locale from an East Coast disco to a West Coast disco and the action from Saturday to Friday, this attempt to capitalize on the popularity of the infinitely superior SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER is little more than an excuse to showcase a number of fleetingly popular 1970s disco acts. THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAY follows a variety of dull characters through one night spent at the Zoo, a "hip" Hollywood disco, and that's about it. It is notable only as singer Donna Summer's film debut, for appearances by Jeff Goldblum and Debra Winger early in their careers, and for the presence of the popular Commodores.
